American Conservatism’s Favorite Messiah and the Epstein Files They’d Prefer You Ignore

American Conservatism’s Favorite Messiah and the Epstein Files They’d Prefer You Ignore

Hello, dear reader.

Today’s topic is the newly released — and then partially mysteriously unreleased — Epstein files. Yes, the Department of Justice briefly opened the vault, let the public peek inside, and then slammed it shut again with the urgency of someone hiding a raccoon in their kitchen cabinets. What we did see was disturbing enough to make anyone wonder what horrors are still tucked away in the redacted shadows.

One detail that stands out: Donald Trump’s name appears in the files over 38,000 times. That’s the same Donald Trump whom conservative Christians continue to champion as the defender of Christian virtue — despite his recent threat to revoke church tax exemptions if pastors dare criticize him. Nothing says “religious liberty” quite like a spiritual gag order.

And if you’re wondering why the DOJ might have abruptly removed a chunk of the files from public view, well, some of the allegations circulating in public reporting are… vivid. Among them are claims involving so‑called “Calendar Girls” parties, where Epstein allegedly brought minors to Mar‑a‑Lago and Trump would auction them off after using his finger to measure aspects of the children's genitals for tightness. Various public figures—including Elon Musk, Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump, Eric Trump, Alan Dershowitz, and Bob Shapiro — are mentioned in these allegations, though the details remain unverified and heavily disputed.

One FBI tip, submitted by an individual using the pseudonym “Tiffany Doe,” describes an alleged threat Trump made to a plaintiff in a lawsuit. According to the tip — signed under penalty of perjury in 2016 — the plaintiff was warned she would “disappear” like another minor if she ever spoke publicly to be raped by Trump. The same individual claimed to have been threatened by Epstein in similar fashion during her employment from 1990 to 2000.

Another set of documents summarizes a 2019 interview with an anonymous man who claimed to have witnessed “ritualistic sacrifice” and the dismemberment of infants on an Epstein‑owned yacht in 2000. The interview did not mention cannibalism, though the terms “cannibal” and “cannibalism” appear dozens of times across the released files. One tip even alleges that Trump witnessed the murder of a newborn.

These are the kinds of claims that swirl around the Epstein archive —messy, contradictory, disturbing, and often unverifiable. But they’re also the kinds of claims that raise the question: Why were some of these files suddenly pulled from public view?

And yet, through all of this, American conservative Christians continue to stand by Trump with the devotion of medieval monks guarding a relic. This is the man they insist embodies Christian morality. This is the man they defend with unwavering loyalty. And somehow, this is what passes for “Christian conservatism” in modern America.

These same voices scold the left for asking too loudly for healthcare or equality, but when Trump hurls insults or threatens churches, it’s praised as “bold leadership.” They cannot bring themselves to call him what he is — not even once, not even quietly — because the leader they elevated now holds their political future hostage. They built a system were stepping out of line is dangerous, and they did it in service to a man who has never recognized a line in his life.

If this is the moral high ground, one shudders to imagine the valley.
