Sleepwalking Through a Fog of Distraction Hoping to Leave the Earth

In a week that could only be described as a masterclass in modern Western enlightenment, three events unfolded that reminded us all why satire is now indistinguishable from reality.

British authorities celebrated Yom Kippur by arresting 500 pro-Palestinian activists, including Holocaust survivors, terminally ill jews, blind men, and wheelchair users. The protest, dubbed “Lift the Ban,” opposed the outlawing of Palestine Action, a group now apparently more dangerous than actual terrorism.

The UK Home Office responded by proposing new laws to limit how many times citizens can protest — because nothing says democracy like a punch card for dissent.

Amnesty International called the move “ludicrous,” which is British for “we’re all doomed.” Reverend Sue Parfitt, 83, was arrested for the third time, proving that in modern Britain, even priests need bail money.

The government insists this is about public order, not optics that resemble a Monty Python sketch.

And just when you thought the week couldn’t get more surreal, Israeli Minister Amichai Chikli invited far-right British activist Tommy Robinson to visit Israel. Robinson, whose fanbase includes mass murderer Anders Breivik, was praised by Chikli as a “courageous leader against radical Islam.”

British Jewish organizations responded with the diplomatic equivalent of “Are you kidding me?”

Robinson accepted the invitation, promising to arrive after his October 13th trial, presumably to swap courtroom drama for hummus diplomacy.

One American jew on X reassured the community: “Tommy is Jewish too. He’s always stood up for us. He has an army ready to fight Muslim immigrants.” Which is exactly the kind of endorsement that makes you want to cancel your Birthright trip.

Another user replied, “Yes, Tommy deserves to play with kids in Tel Aviv vault and to kiss the wish wall,” proving that sarcasm is still alive, even if common sense isn’t.

And yeah, this kind of information always reminded me at Harold Wallace Rosenthal famous quote, - "We Jews have put issue upon issue to the American people. Then we promote both sides of the issue as confusion reigns. With their eyes fixed on the issues, they fail to see who is behind every scene. We Jews toy with the American public as cat toys with a mouse." — I guess not just with American public, but with international public.

Meanwhile, the 22-year-old Swedish climate fighter, Greta Thunberg, landed in Athens, Greece, after being released from captivity inside Israeli notorious Ketziot Prison.

Greta was among 470 other crew members on the 45-vessel flotilla that had unsuccessfully tried to break through an Israeli blockade to deliver aid to Gaza.

At Athens International Airport, Greta arrived alongside 160 flotilla members expelled to Greece by Israel after they spend four days in inhumane and degrading captivity.

Greece activists welcome them with a huge Palestinian flag and chants "Freedom for Palestine" and "Long live the flotilla!", AFP reported.

Greta told reporters "That this mission has to exist is a shame", urging the world to "act to prevent Israel's genocide of the Palestinians", and that "we are not even seeing the bare minimum from our governments."

So there you have it: a government allergic to protest, far-right leader emerged jew ready to visit his handlers, and Greta being let out from the torture chamber. If this is what our reality will continue to look like, we might need to start begging Musk to expedite and expend his efforts in colonizing Mars, I'm volunteering to leave in the first starship.
