Social Media
This website is intentionally different: you won’t find plugins or links to social platforms here. I’ve chosen to avoid social networking because, over decades online, I’ve seen both the good and the bad of the internet — and how social media in particular can distort identity and society. The internet is a powerful tool. It can connect people, expand horizons, and provide endless opportunities for learning. But it can also be manipulated as propaganda, radicalizing users and shaping narratives. Social media magnifies these risks, giving every voice — even those seeking chaos — a platform to build echo chambers.
I’ve supported important human rights on social media, from Standing Rock to Black Lives Matter to the Pro‑Palestine movement. But my participation has always been minimal: present as part of the numbers, never chasing fake friendships or algorithms. My brief attempt to network this blog on X ended quickly after shadow‑banning, malware attempts, realization that algorithms were working against me, and my inability to connect with followers on a deeper level — partly due to my limited free time and my introverted nature.
I believe society would be better without social media’s manipulative systems. Algorithms trap us in narrow beliefs, closing the horizons the internet was meant to open. My advice: don’t rely on social feeds for truth. Use search engines, explore independent blogs, and seek out organizations fighting for a better world. The internet still holds vast knowledge — but it’s up to you to discover it.
Despite my reservations of social media, I still believe the internet can be a force for good when used wisely. Beyond the noise of social media, there are countless independent voices, communities, and resources that can inspire, educate, and connect us in meaningful ways.
The future of the web may lie in decentralization, transparency, and platforms that value human connection over algorithms. My hope is that we learn to reclaim the internet’s original promise — a place to expand horizons, share knowledge freely, and build a society that thrives on truth rather than manipulation.
